Maruyama days- Motegi

Maruyama san is an ex JSB come touring car come drifter who runs liscence free days about once a month or so at motegi. The days are seperated into 3 levels-

Beginner- For track first timers, they run about 4 control laps with a rider out front to set the pace for the first sessions. Giving the first timers a chance to see the circuit for the first time without any pressure. The pace is very slow and there are rules for overtaking. A wide berth is suggested for all overtaking manouvers.

Intermediate- For those that have run on the track before are familiar with regulations, and used to the fast paced environment. Overtaking is allowed but you should be wary, there is a wide variance in speed of all the riders but generally the pace isnt so quick.

Advanced- Pretty much anything goes. Still not up to a race pace but there will always be a handful of riders that run in the low 2.00s. Due to the traffic the fastest time you will see i usually around the 2.05 mark, overtaking is acceptable anywhere but still there are some people that will upgrade themselves above where they should be so for faster riders caution is recommended.

The Maruyama track day starts with selecting your Pit, there are no rules for this and if you arent there early they will fill up. First there will be a briefing where Maruyama likes to crap on for about 30 minutes. He will show off his race queens that he brings much to the pleasure of the riders and generally crack a few jokes here and there.

There are track advisors that can be questioned about anything and they wil help you out with lines and other advice if you ask. They aren't too fast riders but have a lot of experience and can point you in a solid direction if need be.

Each group rides 3 sessions each 20 minutes.

You must have standard track gear and there is an inspection for you bike before you go to the track. all of this is compulsory.
